Hi, I'm Helen
I’m passionate about providing personalised care, where both pets and owners feel genuinely looked after. Animals have been a constant throughout my life, so becoming a vet always felt like a natural path. Today, my own animal family includes Basil, my scruffy Terrier, Figgy, my three-legged cat (the inspiration behind the cat in our logo), and four horses: Limerick, Poldark, Eric and Fly.
Setting up Haslemere Vets with Sophie feels especially meaningful - we shared a house together while studying to be vets and have been close friends ever since.
After qualifying, I joined a small animal practice in Woking. I was there for eight years, working my way up to Clinical Director. During this time, I completed a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery, developing advanced surgical skills while still offering thoughtful, first-opinion care. I’ve also been able to work closely with referral-level surgical and dental specialists.
Outside of work, I’m very active. I spend a lot of time show jumping Eric and Fly competitively. I also love cycling with Sophie – it’s important to us to spend time together as friends as well as business partners.

Hi, I'm Sophie
For me, building trusted relationships with both you and your pet, along with consistent care, is key to your pet’s well-being. I bring a calm, thorough approach to first-opinion veterinary care.
I’ve worked as a small animal vet in an independent practice for the last eight years. Before that, Helen and I studied veterinary medicine together at the University of Bristol, both qualifying in 2017. I’ve also completed a postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Most recently, I worked in a veterinary hospital before deciding to set up my own independent practice with Helen. Setting up our own independent veterinary practice gives us the freedom to put pets, clients and clinical standards first.
Outside of work, I love exploring the countryside with my dog, Raffles – he’s the inspiration behind the dog in our logo! When I’m not out walking, you’ll find me running, cycling or swimming instead!

Starting the practice
Helen:
Always wanted to start my own practice & have freedom over making the right choices for my clients, their pets & my staff
My dad has been responsible for finding the premises! Wanted to find the right place/building for the practice which we did this year.
Why now?
I’ve had enough of working for a corporate who makes decisions for me
I won’t ever have more spare time than I do now!
Sophie:
Took a little more persuasion from Helen to take the leap! Have always thought about doing it “one day” and to recreate the practice I worked for the majority of my career which has lost that community/family feel since becoming corporate
Now feels like the right time to do this in terms of age and where I am in my career
Hard worker so felt unrewarding doing this for someone else. Couldn’t find somewhere I felt I wanted to work so wanted to create the kind of work place I would want to work.
